Still campaigning against the waste site

January 14, 2012 7:33 AM

Liberal Democrats in Garston have said they'll carry on fighting the plans for a waste plant at Stalbridge Dock.

The Labour run City Council decided to designate this piece of land in Garston as the official sub regional waste site for Liverpool.

Labour made the decision as part of a Merseyside wide plan.

There's a consultation going on until 20th January about whether the plan is "sound or not".

And it's possible there will be another Public Inquiry.

Cllr Paula Keaveney, who objected to Labour's plans at the City Council meeting, says it's important to still demonstrate what Garston people think about the scheme

"Labour got away with saying that people in this area weren't that bothered. We know that's not true"

A petition circulating in Garston is already attracting huge numbers of signatures.

People can also now sign the petition on line.

It's in the petition section of this website.
