Next week (Monday 8th March) Cllr Flo Clucas will be installed as the first President of the Women's International Centre for Economic Development. Flo represents Allerton and Hunts Cross on the Council and is also the deputy leader. The six million pound Centre project will enable women from all backgrounds to get help in setting up their own businesses. It'll have space for 50 small enterprises and will help new, fledgling and established business to grow. It will also have an international research and development arm, which will bring together the leading academics and practitioners from across the world to help promote women's enterprise.
There is already extensive world wide interest in the project from as far afield as China, the US, the Middle East and Africa as well as Europe.
