Labour MP backs Lib Dem approach!

LIVERPOOL GARSTON LABOUR MP SAYS THAT HALEWOOD NEEDS REAL INVESTMENT AFTER YEARS OF DECLINE UNDER LABOUR RUN COUNCIL!!

Liverpool Garston Labour MP Maria Eagle has exposed the failings of Labour run Knowsley Council calling for more of the regeneration that is going on in Liverpool to spread to Halewood!

Writing in the latest Halewood Community News Ms Eagle said she recently visited Ravencourt and saw for herself "...the real need for investment and retail development here," and that "....over many years it has been in decline."

Halewood Lib Dems are grateful to Ms Eagle for highlighting what we have been saying for years!!!

It is good to see a Labour MP recognising that the Liberal Democrat led Liverpool City Council is tackling regeneration better than Labour run Knowsley!

But it is also a shame to see that the prospective Labour candidate for the new Garston & Halewood seat is not aware of the proposals to regenerate Ravencourt - although it has so far taken us ten years to get it done!

Halewood North Lib Dem Cllr Sarah Smithson said: "I was surprised to see that the Labour MP for Liverpool Garston is unaware of the Ravencourt development plans and is promising to fight for a fair future for Halewood.

"While we are delighted to see she recognises that Halewood has not been getting a fair deal under a Labour run council and that the Lib Dems in Liverpool are doing a better job of regeneration in Liverpool it's a bit of a johnny come lately approach in my book!

"The Lib Dems in Halewood have been highlighting this problem for years and are the only ones around here fighting for a fair deal for our area," added Cllr Smithson.
