The City Council is to spend more than three million pounds on new playing fields in Netherley.
The fields, at Caldway Drive, are being created so that the facilities at the current Reggie Smith playing fields on Childwall Valley Road can be moved there.
The move is taking place to allow the building of a brand new secondary school which will replace Gateacre Comprehensive and provide much more modern facilities for pupils, staff and the wider community.
Councillors will be updated on the scheme at a meeting of the City Council's Executive Board which takes place later this week (Friday 6th June).
