Matthew Street and Creamfields looking for young people to perform.

March 22, 2008 12:00 AM

The Liverpool Culture Company is looking for bands to enter this year's Streetwaves competition.

Streetwaves is a Culture Company Project that animates and makes use of Liverpool's neighbourhood areas and Merseyside boroughs, in order to bring young people together to enjoy fantastic locally made music.

Its strength is that there are absolutely no genre restrictions so any musical artist is welcome and no act is either too small or large to get involved. As long as you are aged between 14 and 25 and live in the Merseyside area you are eligible to take part.

After 4 years and encountering literally hundreds of talented young acts we are moving into our most spectacular year to date and we have created a very special programme for young musicians across Merseyside.

In 2007 Liverpool's most ready acts played a range of professional events including Eclectica, Creamfields, Mathew Street Festival, Liverpool Music Week and the brand new Liverpool Echo Arena in front of 8000 people.

How Streetwaves works:

To apply, go to www.liverpool08.com/streetwaves and download a form for Liverpool or for one of the other Merseyside districts.

If you are successful you will then be asked to appear at one of the neighbourhood/borough heats where you will perform in front of a local audience and a panel of judges made up of music industry professionals

If you are judged to be 'the most ready' act by our panel on the day, your act will be invited to work closely with a top local producer in preparation for a days recording at elevator studios. In addition you will also have the opportunity to work with a top class local design company who will work with you to create a professional logo and a range of T-shirts to help you promote your act.

This of course will be completed in plenty of time so your act can prepare for playing at two of the biggest festivals in Northern England: Mathew Street festival and Creamfields 2008!
