Liverpool City Council's planning committee has last week (Tuesday 26th February) approved a set of plans to create a new sports centre on the former Lee Manor Site on Childwall Valley Road.
It is a huge project including golf and fishing as well as football, a gym and other sports.
Because the project is so huge it also has to be approved by a government department.
This is an extract from the minutes of Tuesdays meeting:
"Resolved that Application No 07F/2568 in respect of former Lee Manor High School, Childwall Valley Road, Liverpool 27, to erect and layout multi purpose sports complex comprising:- (a) Full Application - nine hole golf course, including putting green, crazy golf course, trim trail and fishing lake (b) Outline Application - extended and refurbished sports hall; 10 no. floodlit 5-a-side and 1 no. 7-a-side all weather football pitches with associated changing/service building; maintenance shed; golf clubhouse and layout associated car parks and landscaped areas (Hybrid Application), be approved subject to the DCLG not wishing to intervene"
Tom Marshall, Lib Dem Councillor for Belle Vale says:
"It's great news that this step has been taken. I have been working with the developers for some time now and I can't wait for us to have this fantastic new facility for local people"
