The Lib Dem team of Councillors and Campaigners in Cressington ward is reporting back on some of the actions taken recently.
Councillor Richard Oglethorpe is taking up residents issues around plans for the former waste depot on Garston Old Road. There are worries about parking and traffic and fears that the development will be too high and overshadow nearby Ivy Avenue.
The resurfacing work on Oldfield Road, called for by Lib Dem Councillors, has now been carried out.
Lib Dem Councillors have agreed plans to support local community groups bidding for money from a Council grants scheme. Among the groups the Councillors are supporting are the Garston Adventure Playground, which is using the money to repair some worn out steps, and the Riverview Residents' Association, which is creating a computer suite for local residents to use.
Footpaths around Garston Park Bowling Green are to be resurfaced following action by the Lib Dem Team to secure the funding.
Councillors have been working hard to get new alleygates installed in areas that need them. The action has been halted however by the Government's Audit Commission. The London based accountants say that there is not enough evidence of the need in some of the areas Councillors are trying to help. To get specific schemes pushed up the priority list, and to collect more evidence. Councillors are urging residents to carry on reporting dumping, flytipping and incidents of anti social behaviour. Streets particularly affected, and for which more evidence is needed, include Oldfield Road, Garston Old Road/Ebrington Street, WoodHey and Bayfeld Roads and Garfourth Close.
