Eyesores to improve?

January 10, 2008 12:00 AM

Two eyesores in South Liverpool may soon be sorted out, reports Lib Dem Councillor Tom Marshall.

The Highwayman Public House, on Childwall Valley road, has been a source of local annoyance for some time. Talks are now under way with the lease owners to see if the land can be developed for housing.

And at the former Caldway Manor site, a planning application has now been made for a care home development.

Says Tom, who represents the Belle Vale ward on Liverpool City Council.

" I have worked to make sure the owners of both these eyesores had notices served on them. I look forward to new developments which will improve the appearance of our area and provide more facilities for local people".

"I have also been following up concerns raised by local residents who are worried that the care home application may eventually be turned into a different sort of residental facility. I am arranging for there to be restrictions placed on any planning permission so that the interests of local residents are protected."
