Nick Clegg MP has been elected as the new leader of the Liberal Democrats.
He beat Chris Huhne MP in a ballot of members of the party. The result was announced today (18th December)
Nick Clegg is the MP for Sheffield Hallam and has been the party's Home Affairs Spokesperson.
The leadership election was caused by the resignation of former leader, Sir Menzies Campbell.
