Commenting on today's [Friday] Help the Aged report, which finds that many pensioners could be missing out on up to £50,000 in benefits, Liberal Democrat Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary, Danny Alexander MP said:
"This is yet more evidence that Labour's attempts to combat pensioner poverty are failing.
"It is no wonder that billions of pounds of pensioners' benefits remain unclaimed when the system is so complicated as to make it indecipherable to all but the most scholarly civil servants.
"As energy prices continue to rise it is essential that the Government takes effective action to tackle the root causes of fuel poverty."
