Liverpool City Council is calling for a halt to a pension fund's investment in the arms trade.
The call, for changes to the way money is invested by the Merseyside Superannuation Fund, follows a motion on the subject by Cressington Councillor, Richard Oglethorpe.
The Fund is a pension fund run on behalf of all the Merseyside local authorities. It is administered by Wirral Council.
The motion to the City Council stated that "investment in the arms trade is not compatible with good corporate, social and ethical governance"
Liverpool City Council is now in touch with the other authorities on Merseyside asking for their support for the change.
