New plans for a dump for household waste are to be discussed by Liverpool's planning committee next week (4 September).
Merseyside Waste Disposal Authority wants permission to have the site on the industrial estate at Holt Lane in Netherley.
There has been an outcry however from local residents who say that adding a dump will mean too much traffic and pollution near to houses.
Lib Dem Councillor Tom Marshall has collected a petition against the plans and written his own objection to planners. He says that this is not a good site for the facility and that the Labour controlled Waste Disposal Authority should look again for other locations.
Information about the planning committee, including the agenda for the next meeting, is available at www.liverpool.gov.uk (look for the Councillors and Decision Making section then select meetings)
