Following complaints by a number of local residents about youth behaviour in Garston Park, the Lib Dem Councillors for Cressington have been lobbying for action to make the park safer. In addition to supporting a renewal of the Section 30 Order by the Police, the three Councillors are also supporting an outreach project which will aim to engage young people to encourage and support their participation in diversionary and informal educative opportunities. The project will deliver a programme of youth work intervention, addressing issues around alcohol, drug misuse, healthy lifestyle and citizenship. The project will be delivered from All Souls Church Hall in Springwood Avenue and Garston Urban Village Hall.
Says Councillor Peter Millea: "This park is an asset for our area and its important we make sure that it is not only safe to use but also not providing problems for those living nearby".
