Councillor Dave Antrobus, Liberal Democrat Councillor for Mossley Hill ward is calling on Liverpool Airport to think again about its taxi policies.
Black cabs are now charged to use the taxi rank at the airport in Speke. This has led to more and more cabs choosing instead to park up on the roads outside the airport, leading to potential traffic and other problems.
Councillor Antrobus is to make his plea in a motion to the Garston neighbourhood committee, which meets next week (Thursdy 5 July)
His motion says:
"This committee calls upon Peel Holding the owners of Liverpool Airport to review the policy of charging Black Cabs to enter the Airport and subsequently causing an unfavourable image to visitors arriving at Liverpool John Lennon Airport who have to walk outside the airport boundary to catch a cab".
The neighbourhood committee brings together councillors, council officials, police representatives and others from three council wards in the South of the City. These are Speke/Garston, Cressington and Mossley Hill. Agendas and information about the committee meetings, which are open to the public, can be found at www.liverpool.gov.uk.
