A Liverpool Lib Dem Councillor is calling on Virgin Trains to reverse a decision which means their staff cannot war Capital of Culture badges.
Staff on the Liverpool to London trains have been told to remove any 08 badges because they can be "mistaken for football club badges".
Church ward councillor, Richard Kemp, says the decision is ridiculous.
He has tabled a motion to Liverpool City Council asking Virgin to think again.
"The West Coast line will get a lot of money from the extra visitors travelling to and from Liverpool in 2008" he says
The motion calls on the council to send a consignment of 08 badges to Sir Richard Branson and for him to change the instruction to staff and get behind the Capital of Culture Initiative.
The City Council meeting is on Wednesday 4th April. Information and agendas for City Council meetings are available at www.liverpool.gov.uk.
