Tight fisted Labour and Tory Councillors on Merseyside Transport authority voted to axe half fares for children on local buses.
Lib Dem Campaigner Lynnie Williams said: " If kids can't afford to get about on the bus, many of them will just end up hanging around on our streets, getting into trouble"
"This is all about saving money. Merseytravel has been left with massive debts when the Labour government pulled the plug on plans to bring trams back to Speke and Garston"
" Local children shouldn't be made to pay the price for Labour's broken promises" added Lynnie
The cut applies to cash fares, not to season tickets.
Meanwhile in London, the government pays for all under 16s to have free bus passes, and adults pay a £1 flat fare.
"You couldn't make it up. As usual its one rule for London, and another for the rest of us".
