Speke-Garston Lib Dem Councillor Danny Hughes has resigned from Liverpool City Council.
Danny sent in his resignation letter today (Monday 22nd January).
He was first elected to the council in 1999 representing Speke ward. After serving four years he took a break before returning in 2004 as one of the team representing the Speke-Garston ward.
Danny says: "It has been a great honour to represent the area. But the health of a close family member, plus my own ill health, has made it impossible for me to do the job I want to do for Speke and Garston."
Resignations from the City Council have immediate effect. This means there is a vacant seat which will be filled by an election in the Speke-Garston ward.
