Councillors from South Liverpool will later this week (Wednesday 6th December) be highlighting the lack of police in Liverpool.
The problem is highlighted in a motion to Liverpool City Council from Councillors John and Flo Clucas, who represent Allerton and Hunts Cross ward.
The pair have analysed Chief Constable's reports since 1956 and produced figures showing a marked change in the ratio of crimes to police officers. Their calculations demonstrate a ratio of 7:1 in 1956 has become a ratio of 52:1 today.
They are asking for a closer look at the pattern of crime and policing resources and for confirmation on the figures from the Merseyside Chief Constable.
