Airport survey - early results

There's been a massive response so far to the survey on Liverpool John Lennon airport organised by Speke Lib Dem Councillors Danny Hughes and Paula Keaveney.
Survey forms are being delivered to households across Speke These ask for people's views on plans for airport expansion, with questions on a range of subjects including jobs, the environment and road traffic.
Results from the survey are being used by Lib Dem Councillors as part of their response to the airports own consultation exercise. They are also being used in the campaign work the councillors will be doing around the airport issue over the next few years.
Early findings from surveys received so far include
- Most people feel the airport is not consulting enough. Publications about the plans and information about public events have not been received by many people in Speke
- People are worried that the new road suggested to bring traffic from Speke Boulevard to Hale Drive and Hale Road towards the airport could affect the ancient woodland to the east of Speke.
- New jobs are welcome. But people are concerned that these might not go to local people in need of work
- Noise and pollution is already a worry in some parts of Speke. People want to see more measures suggested to deal with this.
