Judges from the national Britain in Bloom organisation visited Woolton village earlier this week.
They were there to assess Woolton's entry in the best village category of the national contest.
Now there's a wait for the results of the judging, which will be revealed later this year at a special ceremony in Scotland.
This is the first year Woolton has entered the national competition, after several years competing in the North West contest.
After last year being named as the best large village in the North West, Woolton was entered as the region's representative nationally.
The work on In Bloom has been carried out by community volunteers, local organisations and Councillors Barbara Mace and Barbara Collinge. Since work started, other parts of Liverpool have entered the regional competition in different categories. The two Lib Dem Councillors are hoping the national awards ceremony for Britain in Bloom will, in a future year, take place in Liverpool to further highlight the contest and the benefit it brings for communities.
