Stop rail fare rises say Lib Dems

Liverpool Liberal Democrats are calling on MPs in Liverpool and the North West to lobby the Department for Transport to stop increases in rail fares on trains from Lime Street.
The call comes in a motion to next week's (26 April) meeting of Liverpool City Council.
The motion follows a report for the Department of Transport which said there was an economic case for price rises on services because "residents have become significantly wealthier".
The Liberal Democrats believe that price rises on services from Liverpool will only serve to price vulnerable people out of being able to use the railways,and that it makes sense that areas like Liverpool receive a higher subsidy than affluent areas of the country.
The motion says the report on fares is "another example of the Labour government's limited commitment to public transport in the North West"
