New Leader for Lib Dems

Ming Campbell MP on conference podiumSir Menzies Campbell was today elected as the new leader of the Liberal Democrats.

the election followed a three candidate contest and a postal ballot of the party's members.

The new Leader will make the keynote speech at this weekend's Liberal Democrat conference in Harrogate.

As part of his campaign for leader, Menzies Campbell visited Liverpool and met local activists. He told party members how important the local government success they had achieved was to the whole party.
