Liberal Democrats in Garston constituency, which includes Speke, Garston, Netherley, Belle Vale, Woolton, Allerton, Hunts Cross and Cressington have launched a campaign to keep our police local.
A plan has been drawn up to merge some of the North West police forces, which could see police in South Liverpool being controlled by people in Cheshire or Manchester.
Says Lib Dem spokesperson, Paula Keaveney:
"The key think about policing is local knowledge and local connections. The more remote the management of the force, the harder it will be to provide a good service. Our local police currently work really hard to meet local needs. It would be a travesty if the government forced them to lose their localness."
