Liverpool City Council tonight (7th September) agreed to support moves towards cleaner greener energy in people's homes.
The Council debated a motion on climate change and the use of microgeneration to produce cleaner energy. Microgeneration is basically generating energy through devices in or on people's homes.
The Council heard how two Parliamentary Bills were coming up for debate later this Autumn. Taken together these would encourage the use of small clean energy generating devices as well as requiring an annual report by the Prime Minister on CO2 emissions.
Council agreed to encourage the five Liverpool MPs to support the Parliamentary Bills and to make sure the relevant government ministers know of its support.
The motion was moved by Lib Dem Councillor Paula Keaveney with support from Labour Councillor Nick Small.
More information on the Parliamentary Bills, which are both due for debate on November 11th, is available from the House of Commons Information Office on 020 7 219 3000.
