Communities in South Liverpool and beyond are tomorrow (27th July) being visited by judges looking for neighbourhoods that have gone green and smartened up.
Judges from the North West in Bloom awards are visiting communities to see how areas have been brightened up with council teams and local residents working together.
Areas that have entered the award include the Vineyard Street patch of Garston, where a residents group has been formed and a rather neglected green has been given a new lease of life. Local people have also been helping suggest other improvements.
The Liverpool-wide participation in the In Bloom competition follows the success of Woolton, and latterly Gateacre, in leading the way. Woolton won the Best Large Village award last year - triumphing over many rural areas.
The In Bloom drive has been led by Councillors Barbara Mace and Barbara Collinge, who were instrumental in Woolton's success and who have worked tirelessly in Gateacre too.
