MPs, Peers, Councillors, community reps and local people packed St Georges Parish Church in Stockport today for a service to mark the live and work of Patsy Calton.
Patsy was one of the six Lib Dem MPs in the North West and was known throughout the region for her enthusiasm, commitment and courage.
She died as a result of a second occurence of cancer.
Patsy was elected to Parliament in 2001 with a majority of 33, but turned that into a majority of more than 4,000 this year.
Among those speaking at the memorial service was Lib Dem Leader Charles Kennedy, who was joined by 24 other MPs.
Patsy's death means there will now be a Parliamentary by election in Cheadle, which is likely to take place over the summer.
