Lib Dem Councillor Paula Keaveney has called for more action to deal with crime and anti social behaviour in West Speke, and particularly in the streets around the Crescent and the parade of shops.
The Crescent area has become a magnet for anti social behaviour and nuisance, with both shopkeepers and nearby residents being alarmed at the incidents.
There have been plans to demolish the shop parade and build a new health centre there, which Lib Dem Councillors have supported. But movement on the scheme seems slow.
Says Paula Keaveney:
" I have been talking to the police about the problems in the area, and they are keen to crack down on nuisance and anti social behaviour. It's not right that elderly people should have to suffer and I am worried that, with the lighter nights here now, things will get worse.
I am also lobbying to get the plans for the Crescent development back on track and for residents to be given up to date information about what is going on in their area."
Paula raised the West Speke issue at Liverpool City Council full council meeting last night (8 June) and is following up at the local area committee.
