Liberal Democrats have welcomed a joint campaign by the police and the City Council to crack down on abandoned and unroadworthy vehicles in South Liverpool.
Police and council officers today launched a blitz on the use of vehicles linked to anti social behaviour -like scrambler bikes being used on public footpaths and roads, and untaxed and dangerous cars being used around the area.
The campaign follows complaints from residents, particularly in parts of South Liverpool, about the knock on effects of people using motor vehicles selfishly or recklessly.
Says Garston Councillor Paula Keaveney:
"Abandoned cars, which are then vandalised or set on fire, can cause real distress to residents in my area. It's great that the police are taking action on this, and its really important that people report abandoned cars if they see them on the road."
The police would like anyone with information about anti - social behaviour involving vehicles to call Crimestoppefrs on 0800 555 111.
The campaign was today launched at Belle Vale police station by Chief Constable, Bernard Hogan Howe.
