Liberal Democrats in Liverpool have paid tribute to the work of Patsy Calton MP, Lib Dem MP for Cheadle, who died over the bank holiday weekend.
Patsy had been fighting cancer for the second time.
Despite the disease, she campaigned tirelessly for her constituents and won a vote of confidence when her majority in the constituency increased considerably.
Says Paula Keaveney, Lib Dem Parliamentary Spokesperson for Garston:
" Patsy was really courageous and used her personal experience of a long battle with cancer to argue for more investment in treatment and research. She didn't let being ill get in the way though - and even hardened Conservatives in Cheadle had a huge amount of respect for the work she put in for her communities".
Patsy was one of six Lib Dem MPs in the North West. She won Cheadle from the Conservatives in 2001.
