A candidates debate, organised by the Duncan Society - which promotes public health and health related issues - has had to be cancelled after two parties failed to provide spokespeople.
The debate, which was to have taken place on Friday 29th April, should have included one representative from the Merseyside and Cheshire Area from each party. Paula Keaveney, the Garston Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate, agreed to speak - as did a representative of the Green Party.
Yet despite starting the organising in February this year, the Duncan Society was unable to persuade either Labour or the Conservatives to field a spokesperson.
Says Paula Keaveney:
"Its a real shame as there are plenty of health related issues that we could have discussed in a valuable public policy forum. I can't believe that the other parties could find literally no one from either Cheshire or Merseyside"
