Paula Keaveney, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Liverpool Garston, has called for more police presence in the centre of Garston Village.
In a motion to the Garston area committee, which meets on 17 February, Paula says that the area near the Garston community house has become a magnet for groups intent on vandalism. Windows are frequently smashed and people feel uneasy about being in the area after dark.
Says Paula:
"I am raising this at the area committee because of the continuing vandalism and disturbance around here. This is causing problems not just for people using the community house, but for those visiting the take away or waiting for buses. This is not just about more policing, although I have already spoken to the local police about it. It is also about finding more things for young people to do to divert them from potential damage".
Area Committees meet roughly every seven weeks and bring together councillors, officers, local representatives and members of the public. The Garston Area Committee is chaired by Councillor Ron Gould.
Information about Area Committees is on the Liverpool City Council website at www.liverpool.gov.uk or is available from 0151 233 3000.
