Years of campaigning for a bus service for people in the Chelwood area of South Liverpool have paid off.
Lib Dem campaigners have organised petitions, gone to meetings, written letters and spoken out about the need for a bus service. They were responding to local people who found it incredibly difficult to get to the shopping centre and to other local facilities if they were not car owners.
Now the 165 bus.. which serves Belle Vale.. has been extended so that Chelwood Avenue, and Bowland Avenue in Childwall, have a service.
Councillors Ian Phillips and Tom Marshall, and Parliamentary Spokesperson Paula Keaveney, are among those who have worked hard to see the service extended.
Says Ian Phillips: "We are now making sure we tell everyone about it to make sure the service is well used. That will demonstrate to the bus operators that it is valued by the community"
