Paula Keaveney, councillor for Speke Garston and Parliamentary Spokesperson for the Liberal Democrats is calling for action to make telecomms companies clean up their street furniture.
In a motion to Liverpool Council, which meets on 20th October, she draws attention to the fact that while the council's services can clean up parts of the street scene, phone boxes and boxes with technical equipment in them, are the responsibility of their owners.
Says Paula: "This means that a telecomms box with graffiti or fly posting on can make a street look scruffy regardless of all the other work that's been doing on ".
Paula is calling for the council to get tough with telecomms operators to make them take responsibility for keeping their own property clean.
