Liberal Democrats in Liverpool are calling for more restrictions on the sale of Quad bikes.
A motion to Wednesday's council meeting, by Cllr Richard Oglethorpe, calls on the government to do more to clamp down on sales.
Use of quad bikes and trial bikes on long grass verges and in public parks has been causing more and more complaints from people all over the city.
Areas where residents have suffered noise, nuisance and danger include the historic Mill wood in Speke, where riders have been damaging a vital community resource.
Says Garston Parliamentary Spokesperson Paula Keaveney:
"The police can confiscate bikes when they are being used where they shouldn't be, but its time we tackled this problem at source. Retailers need to be a lot more responsible about selling the bikes, and it is only government action which can force them to do this".
