MPs have voted again in favour of top up fees again despite a huge campaign against the scheme.
The proposal, to allow universities to charge the extra, variable fees, went through with a 28 vote majority.
Lib Dem MPs voted against.
Says Paula Keaveney, Lib Dem Parliamentary Spokesperson for Garston:
"The Labour MPs who voted in favour of top up fees should be ashamed of themselves. In Liverpool, three of our five MPs, included Garston's Maria Eagle, voted in favour of the fees despite beign told that these would deter young people from pursuing a university education. It's time Labour MPs started thinking about the impact of their votes on real people rather than simply toeing the government's line".
The campaign against top up fees continues. More information is available at www.libdems.org.uk or from paula@garstonld.org.uk.
